Manipur police seized Indian currency note amounting to Rs 41,14,088 along with foreign currency of Ngultrum 5, Won 1,000 and Kyat 2,000 from rebels during the year 2009 that killed at least 335 insurgents.
During the same period 1485 insurgents arrested and recovered 274 arms with 7219 ammunitions from them, annual report of the police department said.
In a report of the police department regarding insurgency related incidents witnessed during the year 2009, it is stated that 67 civilians were killed by the insurgents which is two more compared to the previous year 2008.They also killed 19 security personnel indicated a raise of six from the previous year which was recorded at 13 .
No case of civilian injuring as a result of police firing reported during the period started January 1, 2009 till December 31 of the year but 26 security personnel in the act of the insurgents.
The injured figure of security personnel was only 19 in 2008 .
The number of insurgents killed during he period under report was 335 against 348 in 2008 while 1485 of them were arrested against 1703 arrested in 2008 .
Police also recovered 145 hand grenades, 108 lathod bombs, three IED, 123 detonators and 13.710 kg of explosive.
The number of arms recovered in 2009 was less than that recovered in the previous year 2008 which was recorded at 340 with 5707 ammunitions, the source observed comparing that of recovery of 161 hand grenades, 79 lethod bombs, two IEDs, 10 bomb, 89 detonators and 2752 kg of explosive.
No RDX, PEK were recovered during the period but 600 gm of RDX and 19 numbers of PEK weighting 20,900 kgs recovered in the previous year 2008 .
An amount of Rs 41,14,088 in Indian currency recovered from the insurgents in 2009 apart from seizure of Ngultrum 5, won 1,000 and Kyat 2000 from the insurgents.
In 2008, police seized Rs 7,16,598 in Indian currency and 7000 Kyat from them.
A total of 24 insurgents of different outfits were also surrendered during 2009.Out of them four each were from PULF (Umar Farooque faction) and United Kuki Liberation Army (UKLA), three from PULF (Azad faction) and the rest were one each from UNLF, PREPAK, UPPK, KYKL, KYKL(MD), KCP (Noyon) and NSCN (U).
Thirty one insurgents surrendered in 2008 .
Manipur police also registered a total of 3768 cases related with various crimes during the period under report including 2850 cases under major Acts of Indian Penal Code (IPC) and 918 under local law crime minor Acts.
Out of 2850 crime cases registered under IPC, 131 related with murder, 477 attempt to murder, 2 culpable homicide and 31 other related with life attempt.
No case of rape or custodian death recorded in the year.
Ninety-seven cases of kidnapping and abduction registered with various police stations across the state and 62 cases related with the attempt to kidnap and abduct.
Only one case of dacoity registered but cases related with preparation and assembly of dacoity was 188 .
Three cases of robbery, 68 cases of burglary, 282 cases of automobile theft and 100 other attempt to theft were registered in the police during the year 2009 in which 48 cases of riots, 20 cases of criminal breach of trust, 97 cases of cheating, one case of counterfeit, 81 cases of arson, 224 cases of hurt, two cases of sexual harassment and 39 cases of molestation registered.
No case related with dowry registered in the year.
However, 25 cruelties by husband and relatives, two negligence death, 575 motor accident, 123 cases of extortion, 31 offences against state and 130 other IPC registered during the year 2009 .
A total of 918 cases of minor Act (local, special law crime) were also registered in the police department.
Out the total, 10 cases related Arms Act, 17 with Narcotic Drug and Prevention Substances Act, 10 with explosive substances Act, 28 with foreigner Act while 847 related with Unlawful Amendment (Preventive) Act.
The rest six cases were registers under miscellaneous
Acts.
