The Manipur University Tribal Students' Union (MUTSU) has today stated that the sincerity and the transparency of the state government and the Manipur University authority is immediate need for solution to the present stalemate in the university.
A statement issued by the president of MUTSU, Pamei Tingenlung stated that it is unfortunate to note that the State government turns down the demands of ATSUM and MUTSU with regard to maintaining the status quo of the state government reservation policy in matter of admission to various courses of studies in MU.
It pointed out that the local adjustment done in all the North Eastern states are not based on the notion.
Citing that the Central Education Institution established in the tribal areas that are referred in the sixth schedule of the Constitution, but the question of dominancy or minority as such is not raised at all.
The statement alleged that it is totally bias and unsound on the part of the state government and the MU authorities to conceive this act as thrust point for their inability to apply local or regional adjustments in Manipur.
MUTSU is firm in demanding what we are supposed to get as per our population and is firm in demanding what immediate implementation of the provision content in Clause 16 of the UGC guideline.
Further, MUTSU also questions the university authority regarding the delay announcement of interview result for the recruitment in Political Science department.
It also asked the reason behind the delay in constituting a new body of the Executive Council.
