Security forces gunned down two more suspected underground activists in separate inci-dents in Thoubal district, and recovered two 9 pistols with ammunitions, police said today.
Identity of one of the slain youths has been established today.
Family member said that he was picked up from home.
He wore khudei but found wearing pants.
One youth was gunned down by a combined force of Thoubal police commandos and 28 Assam Rifles last night around 10.45 pm at a place between Leishangthem and Thoudam-khul under Thoubal police station.
The other one was killed by a combined force of 12 Maratha Light Infantry and Thoubal district police commandos at Thiyam village under Lilong police station at about 11.20 pm yesterday.
Two 9 mm pistols loaded with four live rounds in each were recovered from both the deceased youths, police said.
The man gunned down at Thiyam village was identified as Thokchom Inao @ Herojit (31), son of Nimai of Chairen Awang Leikai.
As disclosed by the family today, he was once an UNLF but since nabbed by the 21 Assam Rifles posting at Pangaltabi around a year back he has been reporting to the post twice in a month.
He used to show up at the Sugnu police station every Sunday and signed there.
He appeared at the AR post on July 15 last also.
He stayed the house of his relative sister Athokpam ongbi Sanahanbi and engaged in paddy cultivation.
Around seven security men coming into a gypsy vehicle picked him up from the house last night at about 9.30 pm.
They asked house of one ojah Tomba and taken him away after Inao stating that they wanted to have talk with him.
When his sister, Sanahanbi to have talk at the house, they refused and taken away with her husband.
They informed that they were cadres of UNLF and Sir Chaoba sent to bring him (Inao) as he failed to come up after taken leave on medical ground and forcibly kept behind his brother-in law and left the house.
After taken away him, family lodged complaint with Sugnu as well as Waikhong police stations, they said.
The family also said that Inao wore khudei and hoaphi when picked up by the security men but found wearing a black paint, a multi colour shirt along with a chample.
They expressed wonder on the clothing that was found wearing by Inao.
Decrying the killing of Inao after abduction, villagers of Chairen today staged a sit-in protest at the village.
