The State cabinet has decided to locate the Indira Gandhi National Tribal University at Keihao village under Kangpokpi police station which is just around 25 kilometres north of Imphal.
A cabinet source said that the decision to locate the IGNTU at Keihao village has been reached at taking into consideration the ground situation of the place and its proximity with Imphal.
It has a total land area of 300 acres.
While 40 acres of the land is in the plain area, the rest is in the hills.
The Cabinet also decided to increase the amount of compensation to individual land owners for the expansion of various roads including the National Highways to 12 percent.
The amount of Rs 337 and Rs 115 square ft for individual land on the roads including Imphal-Airport, Wahengbam Leikai-Oriental College, and Mayang Imphal road will be increased by 12 percent.
The government has also paid off an amount of Rs 39.33 lakh to NABARD which was taken as loan with the government as guarantor.
The Cabinet further decided not to act as guarantor for private banks.
The cabinet has also decided to entrust the Chief Secretary to work in collaboration with respective Deputy Commissioners and Land Settlement department to record 612 villages in the valley districts which has been started since 2005 .
The Cabinet also decided to exempt only 2 percent of the total Rs 35.45 lakh due with the Pollution Control Board as a land premium of the PCB at Lamphelpat.
Apart from recruiting 29 MBBS and 24 Specialists, the cabinet has also given its approval to recruit 10 MBBS on Contract Basis to replace ten employees who went for further studies outside the state.
The meeting also decided to recruit six posts in the Judicial Service on contract basis in order to facilitate the appointment of Judicial Magistrate at Churachandpur, Ukhrul, Thoubal, Bishnupur, Imphal West and Kangpokpi.
The Cabinet further decided that candidates who are in the waiting list in the recruitment of ASI and SI, 2008 in the Home department be allowed to appear in the new DPC.
It further decided to relax the overage candidates too.The meeting also given its approval to give the post of Revenue Mandal to the son of an Agriculture Officer who was killed by unidentified miscreants on November 30, 2005 at North AOC.
Meanwhile, the Cabinet meeting has deferred the matter of awarding cash reward to persons who provided information about the presence of undergrounds.
The proposal of the Home department in this regard included Rs 3-10 lakh cash reward for information leading to the arrest of over 50 persons of various militants and militant leaders involved in several crimes.
