Dimapur, July 6 (NEPS):
Nagaland Minister for Health and Family Welfare and Excise, Dr TM Lotha called upon the doctors to be more professional in their jobs.
Many hospitals were today well equipped with modern technologies but lacking professionalism and dedication, he explained.
Inaugurating the Eye Operation Theatre (EOT) and Ward that was constructed under National Program for Control of Blind (NPCB) here at Dimapur Civil Hospital today, the Minister asserted doctors needed complete dedication because their "profession demands".
"We may have lot of modern equipments but all these would not do anything unless the doctors proved their professionalism with dedication while dispensing their duties," Dr Lotha pointed out.
He also warned those Government doctors of neglecting their assigned duties in the hospitals and attending their private clinics.
"Those Government doctors wanted to practice independently in their private clinics can do so by gracefully resigning from their Government assigned duties," he asserted.
"Because the Government can't allows such activities to be practiced".
Informing that the Center was launching new health program called National Rural Health Mission where health facilities would be made available to rural and far-flung areas, Dr Lotha also expressed about the various developmental works that had been going on in the State.
All these happened because of the relative peaceful environment in the State, he pointed out stating the State was heading for various new projects under the dynamic leadership of DAN Chief Minister, Neiphiu Rio.
Dr Kepelhouse, Director, Medical Services, Dr Taku Lemtor, State Program Officer, NPCB, Nagaland also spoke on the occasion.
