Imphal, July 06 (NNN):
Zeliangrong Union (Assam, Manipur and Nagaland) has clarified that the news item appeared in The Sangai Express filed by Newmai News Network on June 16 with regard to June 16 rally held in Tamenglong, Senapati, Ukhrul and Chandel districts that the president of the union had been misquoted by the network.
The Zeliangrong Union (ZU) said that its president D.Dikambui did not spell out any contempt attitude against any Naga insurgent group like the NSCN-K which banned the rally.
What ZU president D.Dikambui said was that the said rally was being held by the Naga people as desired and the State Government too had banned such rally which irritated the mind of the Naga people, said the ZU statement.
The ZU clarified that the words, inspite of repeated appeal and threats were the creation of the press.
The ZU also said that the said rally for Naga Unification was held by Naga people in Manipur as sponsored by UNC and supported by Naga Hoho.
It added, Zeliangrong Union being the apex body of the Zeliangrong people, it cannot but express anything which would help the solidarity of Zeliangrongs and the entire Nagas in any circumstances required.
No national revolutionary group should take the Union otherwise but if anything was taken amiss the ZU was sorry for the said misquotation, concluded the ZU statement.
The Network clarifiesActually the question of misquotation or misinterpretation does not arise at all.
