Imphal, March 24:
Even as the Manipuri Students' Federation went to town and proclaimed that question papers of certain subjects in the just held theory paper of the Class XII CBSE examination had leaked, the Director of CBSE Veenit Joshi today claimed that there was no question of any leak maintaining that the supposedly leaked papers were all suggestions.
When The Sangai Express contacted Veenit Joshi on phone at New Delhi today, he said that as per the report submitted by the Board's observers in Manipur, there was no leakage of question papers.
Elaborating, the Director said that the claims made by the MSF that the question of Mathematics had leaked was made after the examination.
Question papers can get leaked only before the examination is held and not after, he explained.
Even then any suspected leaked question papers are always compared with the original paper to work out its authenticity, he added.
On being reminded that the supposedly leaked question paper of Mathematics matched to a certain extent with the original question paper, Joshi said that there has been no formal intimation to the CBSE over the issue.
The supposedly leaked question papers should have been examined with the original paper and if anything amiss is detected then due action could have been initiated, he added.
To a question on what action will be taken up if the allegations that the question papers have leaked turn out to be true, Joshi replied that due measures will be taken up to plug any loopholes in the future.
On being reminded that MSF has already announced its decision to boycott the examination even though the theory paper is over with just the practical tests left, the Director said that they have not been approached and added that it is too late now to do anything.
Meanwhile Imphal West police which had started investigating the allegations raised by MSF, has found out that the supposedly leaked papers were suggestions prepared by the respective schools.
Cross checking the supposedly leaked paper of Chemistry with the original confirmed that the two were different, said a top ranking police on being contacted by The Sangai Express.
There were however some similarities.
The two persons who reportedly escaped when accosted by MSF activists were also summoned by the police, said the officer and added that the two also informed that the paper was only a suggestion.
