Governor Dr SS Sidhu and Chief Minister O Ibobi Singh have extended their greetings and best wishes to the people of Manipur on the occasion of Yaoshang festival.
In his message to the people, Governor Dr SS Sidhu said Yaoshang marks rekindling of the spirit of life - new leaves sprout on trees, the flowers are in full bloom and gardens and parks present a riot of colours.
Celebrated with gaiety and enthusiasm, the festival makes us forget our difference and spreads the message of love, friendship and harmony cutting across the barriers of caste, creed and religion, the Governor said, adding in the celebration of a festival like Yaoshang, the edifice of oneness gets strengthened.
Describing Yaoshang as the principal festival of Manipur, Chief Minister O Ibobi Singh in his message said that Yaoshang is a festival of joy and reconciliation.
The festival offers an opportunity to set aside all differences and to come together to rejoice life, Ibobi said, adding that the message of Yaoshang is very relevant today when the prime need of the hour is peace and harmony.
