Imphal, May 29 2009:
To solve the problem of inconveniences caused to traffic flow due to presence of various check posts and entry points, the State Government has decided to set up three composite check posts one each at Pallel, Jiribam and Maram.
Disclosing this to The Sangai Express, an official informed the decision to set up three composite check posts in place of the existing separate check posts and entry points with an eye on ensuring free flow of traffic was taken during a meeting presided over by the Chief Secretary.
Though it was decided that the proposed composite check posts would be set up at Pallel, Jiribam and Maram, the exact location/site have not yet been finalised.
Adequate security measures would be in place in each of the proposed composite check posts where there would be police check post, excise station, transport and taxation units all under one roof.
For the convenience of the travellers, necessary civic amenities would also be taken care of.
The meeting attended by the top officials of the Finance and Planning among other Departments concerned also discussed preparation of the concept notes.
It was decided that after submission of the concept notes prepared by the relevant departments a detailed project report (DPR) would be made and it would be send to the authority concerned for providing fund under the NLCPR, the source added.
