Imphal, December 17:
With not a single PDS item available to the people of Sinam Kom village, the people of the village have requested AMSU for a bag of sugar.
Sinam Kom village under Saikul Assembly Constituency is located just 15 kms from Imphal along Saikul-Pangei road and is exclusively inhabited by the Kom tribe.
Though the distance from Saikul-Pangei road to the village is just 1 km, one would not be able to see the preceding vehicle if two vehicles happen to go in line because of dust storm raised by the preceding vehicle.
In response to the appeal of the Youth Club chairman Alet Kom to donate some sports material for the sports tournament scheduled for February next year, a team of AMSU volunteers today went to the village to deliver the sports materials.
The AMSU team led by its president Ch Birendra and advisor Kh Ratan donated three footballs, three Sepak Takraw balls and net, one carrom board and some study materials.
Speaking on the occasion, the chairman conveyed deep gratitude to AMSU.
He disclosed that even though the village is located under Saikul AC, not a single material provided by the Govt has ever reached the people.
The request to AMSU was made due to the extreme backwardness of the village, said Alet Kom.
On behalf of the village, he further appealed for a bag of sugar and some exercise books to be given away as prizes to students of various competitions slated during the Christmas festival and to arrange a generator for the festival.
Birendra assured that AMSU would extend all possible cooperation in urging the State Govt to provide basic necessities of the village.
