Imphal, December 15 2009:
Identification process for disabled persons so that they can be given education has been initiated under the aegis of the Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan, State Mission Authority.
Camps for identifying disabled persons were held with specialist doctors in interior areas of Churachandpur for ten days starting from November 25, said an official source.
In all 870 disabled persons between 4-20 years were identified at this camps.
These include deaf, mute, dumb and mentally challenged persons.

Similar camps were also held at Kwakta, Kumbi and Thanga where 147 disabled persons were identified.
The Government would be providing all kinds of assistance to the disabled persons even to the extent of surgical operations, if required, informed the source.
