A programme titled 'the bliss window for the cheer entertainers' aimed at convincing women, who have used their bodies as means of livelihood, that they can live in the society was held today at Manipur Press Club.
The programme was organised with support the Meetei Leimarol Shinnai Shang and the Manipur AIDS Control Society.
The programme participated by around 100 women who have used themselves as means of livelihood was attended by MACS project director PK Jha, MACS project director (Technical) Dr Kh Pramodkumar and president of the Meetei Leimarol Shinnai Shang MC Rita as presidium members.
The programme was organised with the objective to instill a sense of confidence among those women enduring stigma and discrimination that they too are human and that they live within the society.
Speaking at the programme, PK Jha invited NGOs to make project proposals for the welfare of those women facing discrimination.
Saying that these women did not take up their profession willingly, PK Jha said that they were forced into the profession by numerous problems and compelling circumstances.
The programme culminated with dance and music shows presented by the women.
