In a significant development District Common Service Centre (CSC) became fully functional from today.
To a query on implementation of State Wide Area Network (SWAN) launched by the President of India Pratibha Devi Singh Patil during a Video Conferencing with Deputy Commissioner of Ukhrul N Ashok Kumar, the latter answered that it has reached the district headquarter and sub-divisional headquarters.
On the benefit of SWAN project, the DC told the President that information and technology services will be delivered to all possible villages through Common Service Centre (CSC) and cyber cafe.
To another query the DC explained that CSCs have been delivering the services through the District Informatics Officer and his official team of NIC.
Later in the afternoon during a media briefing on the details of Manipur State Wide Area Network (MSWAN) the DIO NIC Ukhrul Thiyam Rajesh said MSWAN will be the backbone of connectivity from the State Capital Imphal to all the District headquarters and the Sub-divisional headquarters, called Point of Presence (POP) sites, in the State of Manipur.

The project has been funded by Department of Information and Technology (DIT), Government of India in consultation with DIT, Government of Manipur, National Informatics Centre (NIC) and Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) .
Through this backbone there will be horizontal POP sites at all the department in the district headquarters and sub-divisional headquarters for delivering various kind of citizen centric services, the DIO informed.
The Exclusive Video conference was attended by SDO Ukhrul Ranjan Vishal, Assistant Commissioner Armstrong Pame and other officers of DC office.
