'Marriage' foiled by first wife

In a rare incident of its kind, a marriage ceremony was cancelled today when a woman, along with her family members, presented herself as the first wife of the bridegroom and spoiled the ceremony.
The incident occurred at Khagempali Huidrom Leikai under Singjamei PS this eveing around 4 pm.
The woman, Yumnam Bidyaluxmi (37) daughter of Y Direndro of Elangbam Leikai Leirak Achouba came out openly to disturb the marriage ceremony claiming she was the wife of Thounaojam Baleshwor Singh son of Late Dr Surchand of Singjamei Thongam Leikai and that they have an eight year old daughter.

Baleshwor was just about going to complete the rituals of marriage with a 23 year old woman from Khagempali Huidrom Leikai.
Bidyaluxmi said that she is working as senior lecturer at NERIST, Itanagar since 2000 .
She entered a couple life with Baleshwor, who is Associate Professor in the Indian Institute of Technology, Guwahati, since 2002 .
She alleged that she came to know of Baleshwor's marriage arrangement with the 23-year old woman after she received an invitation card for the marriage.
Bidyaluxmi flew back to Imphal from Itanagar today immediately on receipt of the invitation and she petitioned the Imphal West Chief Judicial Magistrate for intervention into the matter.
The CJM in turn asked Singjamei police investigate into the matter.
With the court order in her hands and with police and her family members Bidyaluxmi waited for the arrival of the bridegroom to the bride's residence at Khagempali Huidrom Leikai Lairembi Lampak.
Alerted of Bidyalumxi's plans the marriage procession stopped at Moirangkhom from where the bridegroom, Baleshwor abruptly vanished.
Bidyaluxmi and the police conducted search operations but Baleshwor could not be found and police have registered a case.
