Even as the ambush launched by militants in Ukhrul claimed the lives of three Assam Rifles personnel including a Major yesterday, another ambush took place last night triggering a gun fight between suspected underground cadres and 7/8 Gorkha Rifles (GR) posted in Churchandpur district in which three security forces were wounded.
According to an official source, the three personnel of the Gorkha Rifles suffered injuries in a shoot out with suspected Peoples' Liberation Army (PLA) at Tuiton Khongkhai under Saikot sub-division in Churachandpur district last night at around 7.30.It further said that the shoot-out took place when the 7/8 Gorkha Rifles personnel came under heavy attack from the underground elements while patrolling the area.
The militants however fled from the area after some time.
Decomposed body found : A decomposed body of an unidentified man was found inside an unkempt room of a uninhabited house located alongside the Nambul river bank of Paona Market today afternoon.
The decomposed body was discovered by some workers who went inside the house to repair it as part of the drive to clean Nambul river.
The house lies on the Paona Market side just East to the bailey bridge being constructed over Nambul river at Thokchom Leikai.
It is reported that the house belongs to one Pritam who is an authorised dealer of Maruti.
The unidentified corpse was picked up by police and deposited at RIMS morgue.
