A high level official team from Delhi led by the Union Cabinet Secretary KS Chandrasekhar is set to arrive here on November 29 to review the progress of the schemes sponsored by the Centre as well as to study the law and order situation.
The team will be here till December 1.Talking to The Sangai Express an official source informed that the Centre has officially informed the State Government about the proposed visit of the high level team from the Centre and accordingly the State Government has also started getting ready to receive the team.
In connection with the impending visit of the Central team, Chief Secretary Jarnail Singh convened a meeting of all the officers concerned yesterday and briefed them on the responsibilities of the different Departments, said the source.
Accordingly all the Departments concerned have started the spade work to receive the high level team from Delhi.
Apart from the Cabinet Secretary, the other members of the team include the Secretary Co-ordination of the Union Cabinet Secretariat, Secretary of Border Management, Secretary of DONER, Secretary of RD and Director of IB.
Officials from the Ministry of Forest and Environment, Planning Commission, Ministry of Power, Ministry of Water Resources, Ministry of Urban Development, Ministry of Health, Ministry of Surface Transport, Ministry of Railways and Ministry of Tribal Affairs, will also accompany the team, informed the source.
The team will review the progress of Centrally sponsored schemes, which are included in the core sector and come under the Bharat Nirmal Programme such as Rural Connectivity, Rural Drinking Water, Rural Housing, Rural Electrification, Irrigation and Rural Telephone Connection.
Other than this the team will also review the works taken up under the Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan, National Rural Health Mission, NREGS, Backward Region Grant Fund, Forest and Tribal Welfare, National Highways and Jawaharlal Nehru National Urban Renewable Mission.
The State Government from its side had already urged the Centre to upgrade NH-39 to a four lane National Highway, to construct the bridges over NH-53, to convert the Rengpang to Bishnupur road as NH-53 (A) and the construct NH-150 connecting Churachandpur and Tipaimukh.
The source further said that the Central team will also study the steps taken up to curb the activities of the armed outfits as well as the prevailing law and order situation.
The Union Home Secretary had recently come to Imphal to review the law and order situation.
