A man working at the Kolkata Manipur Bhavan allegedly attempted to molest a Manipuri woman employed at the Bhavan recently.
The man also used to speak to the woman in sexually explicit language, reports said.
State Women Commission today strongly blamed the state Home Department of trying to closing the case without delivering justice to the victim woman and announced that the case will be taken up by the commission to punish the culprit.
Speaking to media persons at the office chamber of the commission today, chairperson, Dr Ch Jamini said that a man serving at the canteen of the Manipur Bhava, Kolkata allegedly attempted to molest a woman working as receptionist.
He also used sexually explicit words while trying to molest her.
With regard to the incident, the woman in question lodged a complaint with the West Bengal Women Commission.
But the commission referred the case to the Manipur home department stating that the matter is outside the jurisdiction of the commission as the Bhavan is run by the Manipur government.
The state home department instead of thoroughly investigate into the case, with a report that no such incident occurred in the Bhavan closed the case.
The helpless woman than lodged complaint with the Manipur Women Commission for delivering justice to the incident, the chairperson said adding that the commission has registered a case and the hearing to the case will commence at the earliest.
She further observed that in the government and private undertaking offices, using sexually explicit words, sexually harassing, molestation and pictures of women showing her body without cloth etc.
are prohibited by the law under the Indian constitution.
