Health Minister and elected representative of Lamlai A/C Ph Parijat today inspected the site where the new building of Lamlai police station is proposed to be constructed.
The Minister was accompanied by IGP Law and Order (I) S Dinokumar, DIG Range-(I) M Karnajit, DC Imphal East Y Thamkishore and SP Imphal East L Kailun during the inspection.
In the absence of a separate building of its own, Lamlai Police Station is presently attached with the Power Sub-Station at Napetpalli.
After the inspection and following a mutual agreement with the land owners, the Ministerial team decided to acquire around 10 acres of paddy field located just adjacent to the western wall of the Sub-Station for construction of the new office building of Lamlai Police Station.
The site selection for construction of the office building of Lamlai Police Station at Lamlai area situated behind Napetpalli was arrived at from the security point of view of the location of the FCS godown, office of the Sub-Divisional Agriculture Officer, Power Sub-Station, office of the Minor Irrigation and other important installations.
The Police officials who accompanied the Minister had also favoured the selection of the proposed site.
It has been decided that out of 10 acres of land to be acquired for the purpose, 2 acres would be utilised for construction of the office of the Sub-Station of the Fire Brigade.
Talking to reporters Parijat said that following the agreement with the land owners, the work order to begin the construction of the office building of the Police Station had been issued.
