The Shija Academy of Nursing would be soon upgraded to the status of a Nursing College, Chairman of Shija Hospitals and Research Institute Dr Palin announced.
Addressing as functional president of lamp lighting and oath taking ceremony of the 3rd batch of the GNM students of the Academy held at the Institute complex at Langol here today, Dr Palin said that efforts are being made to upgrade the existing Shija Academy of Nursing to a Nursing College very soon.
Once it is upgraded, there would be facilities not only for studying B Sc Nursing but also Masters and even Ph D in Nursing.
Observing that role of nurses towards establishment of a good health institution is very important, Dr Palin noted that with development a great change in the scenario of medical science and medical care is also being witnessed and with development of medical science the life expectancy of human beings has also expanded today.
Along with this, health problems like cancer, heart and care for aged people have become the greatest problems of the world and a great challenge for the nurses today.
It is with these challenges of the nursing in mind as well as to improve the quality of nursing services that steps have been taken up to upgrade the Shija Academy of Nursing to a Nursing College under Public Private Partnership model, Dr Palin added.
Registrar Cum Nursing Superintendent of Manipur Nursing Council/ Medical Directorate, Government of Manipur Kh Bimola and Deputy Nursing Superintendent Vung Zanem Valte were also present at the ceremony as chief guest and guest of honour respectively.
