On a three-day tour of the State, Director General of Assam Rifles (DGAR) Lt Gen Paramjit Singh, AVSM, VSM arrived at Manipur today.
He is being accompanied by his wife Mona Prakash Singh, president of ARWWA.
After his arrival the DG went to Mantripukhri, where he was received by IGAR (South) Maj General BK Chengapa, who briefed him on the prevalent security situation and the developmental projects being taken up by the Assam Rifles in Manipur.
The DGAR was also briefed by the Commandant of 36 Assam Rifles.
As part of his visit, the General Officer will be visiting Chandel, Chassad, Joupi, Sajik Tampak, Noney and AR troops deployed in the ongoing CI operations at Samtal-II besides other AR posts deployed in other sectors of Manipur, according to a statement issued by PRO Assam Rifles.
Complimenting the troops on their commendable job in keeping insurgency under check, the DGAR exhorted them to keep the pressure and continue the good work.
ARWWA president Mona Prakash Singh who is accompanying the General officer, will be interacting with the families of the troops both at Mantripukhri and Keithelmanbi and address their problems.
She will also be launching a number of welfare projects for the benefits of the families of Assam Rifles troops.
Before winding up his tour, the DGAR accompanied by IGAR (S) will be calling on Governor Dr SS Sidhu at Raj Bhavan on Dec 13 and give an update on the role and achievements of AR in Manipur.
He will also be participating in the inaugural game at the newly constructed seven hole golf course at the Raj Bhavan.
