Imphal, December 11:
A recruitment rally to induct youths of the State into Indian army was kicked off today by Imphal East DC Y Thamkishore at Manipur Police Training School at Pangei.
About a thousand youths belonging to Imphal East and Imphal West districts participated in the opening day of the rally.
Recruitment rallies for other districts on the following days.
Speaking on the occasion, DC Thamkishore said that the rally provides an opportunity to the youths of the State to join Indian army which is the second largest army in the world.
He said that the recruitment will be free from any corrupt practice or unfair dealings.
The rally was also attended by Army's recruiting director of Nagaland and Manipur Col Rakesh Nair and commandant of 22 MLI Col Harjinder Singh and other officers.
