The proposed mass surrender of KCP-MC (Lallumba group) cadres scheduled for tomorrow has been put off for sometime in accordance to a decision adopted in a meeting of the Strategic Operation Group (SOG) held today at the 1st Bn MR banquet hall.
The SOG meeting presided by Chief Secretary DS Poonia was attended by DGP Y Joykumar, Commissioner (Home) V Vumlunmang, MHA Director (NE) Dr Mehanathan, IG (Intelligence) LM Khoute and officials of the Army, AR, CRPF and BSF.
After discussing the proposal of KCP-MC (Lallumba group) for mass surrender on January 9, the meeting decided to put off the surrender ceremony for sometime citing certain unavoidable circumstances and the inability of the UG cadres to assemble together.
The meeting further agreed on re-scheduling the surrender programme either in the first or second week of February, 2010 .
DGP Y Joykumar said that the surrender ceremony will be held at Imphal in the presence of Home Ministry officials.
Notably, construction work of the rehabilitation centre to house cadres of the UG group has already begun at Jiribam.
The SOG meeting held today also reviewed the prevailing law and order situation of the State.
