To know our own origin is a must for strengthening the bond of love between the hills and valley people, said state Irrigation and Flood Control Minister, N Biren while speaking at the opening function of the six day long Games and Sports Meet of the Siimai (Saranamai) Youth and Students' Union at Saranamai public ground in Senapati district on Thursday.
The Minister on seeing the people coming out to take part in the function with traditional attire further recalled the living style of the people of the state before the advent of foreign religions in the state.
He said that history cannot be remade.
For the restoration of the brotherly loves between the people of hills and valley, there is the need to re-look our origin and past history.
Keeping this view in mind, SPF government is taking up various development works in the hill areas for a balanced development in the state.

He also expressed happiness on seeing players in uniform and said uniform in a playground is the other form of displine.
State can produced excellent sportsperson with the establishment of National Sports Academy in Imphal.
Government, recognizing the achievement of the sportspersons of the state, has offered government jobs to 97 sportspersons who won gold medals in the national championship recently, he informed the gathering.
He further informed that with the objective of producing good sportspersons, government will construct a sports complex in Senapati district at an estimated cost of Rs 15 crore.
The ground works has begun, he added.
Minister, Biren also assured the villagers that a mini basketball ground will be developed at Saranamai.
He will also asked MANIREDA authority to install a hydel power project in the village.
Minister also gifted footballs, volleyballs apart from donating Rs 30,000 as assistance to the organizers of the meet.
President of the District Congress Committee, Senapati, PT Arthai presided over the function in which district youth affairs and sports officer, Sudhajit attended as guest of honour.
Before the opening of the sports meet, the minister inaugurated a community hall constructed in the village under the initiative of the Information Centre for Hill Areas, Manipur (ICHAM).
Speaking on the occasion, ICHAM's vice president Kh Dhani said that the body has been taking up various works in the hill areas with the view that hills areas should be developed equitible with that of valley areas.
