A newly constructed community hall was inaugurated by Works Minister K Ranjit at Kwakta today.
The community hall was constructed by Manipur Development Society at the cost of Rs 31 lakhs approximately.
Speaking at the inaugural function, Works Minister K Ranjit said that the present generation needs capable and competent leaders to groom more qualified citizens for future generations.
Observing that there were instances when there was likelihood of erupting of unwanted incidents between Meiteis and Meitei Pangals, Ranjit called upon all to give all communal feelings and to co-exist together in harmony.
In case, there would be any further delay in the implementation of Kwakta Ring Road under PMGSY, the same work would be put in the programme of Works Department, Ranjit said.
Addressing the gathering as guest of honour, Education Minister L Jayantakumar said that MLAs would not be able to execute what they are planning in the absence of public cooperation.
Any infrastructure shortage in schools located at Kwakta area would be filled up soon, he assured.
He further asserted that certain changes can be witnessed in the field of school education within the current financial year.
Stating that the sericulture project was taken up to make people economically self-reliant, Jayantakumar who is also Minister of Sericulture said that thousands of people are being trained under Sericulture Project.
He went on to claim that the project can bring prosperity and economic well-being to many people of the State.
In his presidential speech, local MLA M Prithiviraj noted that Kwakta remains the most backward of all areas inhabited by Muslims.
Being one of the most backward area within Moirang Assembly constituency, special assistance is being extended in Kwakta area in the field of development.
Noting that the people of Kwakta have been facing water woes, the MLA assured that potable water would be made available to the people from May this year.
The inaugural function was also attended by Thanga A/C MLA T Mangibabu, Pollution Control Board Chairman E Dwijamani, MANITRON Chairman Dr Kh Ratan-kumar, former Speaker Maniruddin Sheikh, Chairperson of Moirang Municipal Council and Councillors of Kwakta Nagar Panchayat.
