Crackdown on LPG black- marketeers

Imphal, October 29 2011:
Launching a special drive against selling of filled LPG cylinders in black market at high price, Imphal West District Police and officials of FCS department detained a person and recovered nine filled gas cylinders and nine customer cards from his possession.
According to a statement made available to the press, Senior SP of Imphal West District Police informed that on receipt of information that filled LPG cylinders are being sold in the black market at a very high price; the District Police along with officials of FCS department conducted a special drive.
During the drive, an individual later identified as Nongmaithem Chinglen Singh (23) s/o N Tomba Singh of Sagolband Bijoy Govinda Mamang was detained and recovered nine filled gas cylinders and nine customer cards belonging to different persons and gas agencies from his possession.
Further verification led to the revelation that Chinglen is in possession of in all 30 customer cards of different gas agencies, namely four customer cards of Hrangchal Gas Service, 15 customer cards of KK Gas Agency, three customer cards of Manipur Gas Service and eight customer cards of Imphal LPG, the SSP informed, adding that a case has been registered and further investigation is on.
