Non-local shot dead

Armed kidnappers shot dead a non-local at Henken, about 35 km from Churachandpur police station in Churachandpur district of Manipur on Saturday morning, in an incident related with a ransom.
The deceased Arunkumar Jain, 24 s/o Babulal Jain dealing in motor parts, a native of Jaipur, Rajashthan, was staying at Lamka town, LIC building near SBI Bank in Churachandpur district.
He had been reportedly abducted by some unknown armed miscreants on October 25 at around 8:30 pm from outside his residence which is attached with a shop selling motor spare parts, a police said.
The kidnappers later demanded a ransom of Rs 20 lakh for their captive to his family and the information was conveyed to the family by his abductors using his cell phone, said one of his relatives here.
He said, "Till 5 pm of October 28, negotiations were going on between the kidnappers and his family but all of a sudden, information was received that his dead body was lying somewhere in Henken area near a road this morning" .
Arunkumar, who was kidnapped amid the Diwali festivities, was the only son of his parents.
He received one fatal bullet injury behind his head.
The kidnappers did not name any underground organization, said his family and added that they believed the miscreants were his near ones.
His parents fainted in shock hearing the news of his death.
The corpse was recovered by a team of Churachandpur police around 11:30 am on Saturday and later deposited at RIMS for autopsy.
