State education department has signed memoranda of understanding with two central agencies during a meeting held at New Delhi from June 17 to 19 last.
State education minister, L Jayantakumar today said that the first MoU was signed between state Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan, State Mission Authority and National Mission for Geo-spatial Application Technology Information, Forecasting and Assessment Council.
Under the MoU, the agency, which is under the Science and Technology Department, will broaden the activities of Sarva Siksha Abhiyan in three fields namely school, hospital and habitation.
For achieving this objective, representatives of the agency will come to Manipur very shortly.
All the expenses of the project will be borne by the agency itself.
The second MoU was between Department of School Education and National Mission on Bamboo Applications (NMBA).
This project will train the unemployed educated youth and dropouts in bamboo crafts to improve their economic conditions.
The project will train the individuals for two years.
They will also be given stipend of Rs 50 per day.
The experts from NMBA will arrive in Manipur in first week of next month with their machineries and tools.
