Imphal, June 22 2010: An interaction of leaders of civil societies held yesterday at MBC under the aegis of All Manipur Christian Organisation has resolved to appeal to all concerned to exercise restraint and abstain from any act that could aggravate the prevailing uneasy situation in the State.

An AMCO release issued by its president Rev S Prim aiphei said the interaction programme was attended by representatives of love Manipur, AMUCO, HERICOUN, UCM, Mao union (Imphal), Forum for Social Harmony, peace Core Team (Manipur), Naga Leaders' Forum, Abundant Life Ministry, OMCRS, advisory body of Zeliangrong people, etc.

While appreciating suspension of the ban on passage of Manipur vehicles through nagaland by the Naga Students' Federation, and similar relaxation of the economic blockade by the ANSAM and UNC, the AMCO release also conveyed that the congregation took serious note of some miscreants attacking a passenger bus that plies in between Imphal to Mao Gate.

Suggesting that, in case of any difference, the issue should be resolved through negotiations rather than act insanely as such irresponsible activities could aggravate the present situation, the representatives reportedly viewed with seriousness report in State dailies about collection of illegal tax on Manipur vehicles by the Dimapur Naga Students' Union.

The DNSU has been appealed to stop levying illegal taxes, the AMCO release said.

Further it informed that the session resolved to appeal to the Government of Manipur to invite the UNC and ANSAM for a talk at the earliest on the impasse regarding the ADC election and to bring abut an amicable solution by revoking the 'wanted tag' against leaders of UNC and ANSAM.

ZSULA decries: Zeliangrong Students' Union, Longmai Area (ZSULA) has decried the alleged failure of the Government to provide any form of assistance to the flood affected people of Longmai (Noney) till date despite repeated appeals, reports our Jiribam correspondent.

The Union has also urged the district administration of Tamenglong to take stock of the grim condition of Noney and do the needful at the earliest.

Further, the student body has flayed the decision of the State Government to take over the charge of developing the National Highway 53 from BRO.
