THE MANIPUR People's Party (MPP) today flatly rejected the allegation leveled against the party President Dr L Chandramani by MPCC Vice-President, AK Mirabai which said that the MPP President is personally involved in violating the poll norms at polling station 19/1 under Patsoi Assembly Constituency.
A press release issued by MPP General Secretary S Umananda Singh stated that the allegation was totally wrong and baseless.
The statement asks the MPCC Vice-President Mirabai why she maintained her silence and didn't raised the issue if she charged Dr Chandramani, a staunch believer of democracy, of violating poll norms in earlier elections too.
The MPP welcomes re-poll at polling station 19/1 to do away with the doubt of the public and the accusation leveled by the MPCC, the statement asserts while demanding re-poll likewise at eleven polling stations in Andro Assembly constituency where the public alleged the Congress of practicing proxy voting.
S Umananda further stated that it is a mean in democratic set up to launch agitation protesting the deployment of unarmed VDF at several polling stations in Andro assembly constituency and it is necessary to do so while adding that it is not to an attempt to make issue out of nothing.
