The Bharat Sansar Nigam Limited (BSNL) is getting ready to install a Mobile Switching Centre with improve Third Generation Mobile Service in Manipur apart from replacing the Base Transmitter Station (BTS) currently in service by more sophisticated Ericson BTS which will provide more improve service to the BSNL subscribers in the state.
An official source disclosed Hueiyen Lanpao said that separate Mobile Switching Centre in the state is to be installed in the state in order to reduce the work load at Shillong controlling the entire north east circle of the BSNL.
And after the replacement of the currently in use BTS by the Third Generation (TG) Mobile Service will allow use of broad band internet through mobile with the speed not below 255 Kilo bite per second (KBPS).
It also will provide the facilities of use of multi-media, uploading and downloading of video clippings etc.
Apart from this, with the help of TG server, mobile handset with video camera can enjoy face to face talking through the mobile phone.
Source further said that within the three month period of time, BTS 33 towers will be installing at various places in Imphal area to provide the facilities with TG in phase-wise manner and by replacing the BTS of the WLL currently in use by EVDO, board band internet facilities will be made available to the customers.
Eighty percent of installation works for replacement of the BTS by Ericson BTS has so far completed and targeting to complete the remaining 20% work by next month, officials of the BSNL, Imphal disclosed.
Problems and inconveniences will cause to the mobile customers owing the upgradation process and replacement of the older one by latest equipments.

BSNL is planning to provide broad band service by installing exchange centres at 30 places including at every district headquarters.
The lowest speed of the service will be of 255 kilo-bite and the highest will be 8 mega bites.
Under the broad band service, facilities of web conference, video conference, audio conference, power point sharing, file sharing, chatting and wide board will be provided, the officials disclosed.
