Chief Justice of Gauhati High Court, Justice Madan B Lukur who arrived at Imphal on his visit in the state today said that for improving the service of the judiciary in the state, all the required infrastructures will be provided within the next two month.
The Chief Justice arrived in the state capital today was received by judicial officers of the state government, members of the All Manipur Bar Association and staff of the courts in a function held in the conference hall of the Chief Judicial Magistrate, Imphal east at Uripok Cheirap complex.
Speaking at the reception function, the Chief Justice observed that judges and advocates of the state are highly qualified and as such remarkable progress in the judiciary services is seen.
He also said that for improvement of the judiciary system in the state and benefited the people the authority has taken up step to improve the infrastructures of the judiciary.
In the effort the support and corporation of the judicial officers and advocates are needed.
The All Manipur Bar Association (AMBA) also submitted a memorandum to the visiting Chief Justice praying him for recommending one suitable/eligible person from the state of Manipur for appointment as a Judge of Guahati High Court on retirement of the Justice Maibam Binoykumar.
The memorandum stated that four Judges, two from the Bench and two from the bar are representing the state in the Gauhati High Court for manifold reasons.
It is learnt that out of the said four Judges from the state of Manipur, one of them, Maibam Binoykumar who was elevated from Bench is retiring with effect from September 1, 2010 on superannuation.
When he retired from service, the Judges representing the state will be reduced to three.
Apart from this two other judges of the state are to retire within the next 18-19 months.
There are many deserving members in the legally fraternity of the state from Manipur for appointment as Justice of the Gauhati High Court, the memorandum asserted while requesting the Chief Justice for recommending one of the most deserving person for appointment as a judge of the Gauhati High Court, in the interest of the members of the legal fraternity and people of the state.
