Imphal, August 23 2010:
Members of the Association for DPC Successful Candidates for Primary Teachers/HMT/HGT 2006 today threatened to launch intensified forms of protest including hunger strike while submitting a memorandum to the Chief Minister demanding issue of appointment orders.
Members of the association submitted the memorandum to the Chief Minister with a rally carried out on the streets from MDU Yaiskul where a meeting was held to discuss non issue of appointment orders to the primary teachers.
The rally was blocked by the police in front of the Imphal Police Station where there was a heated exchange of words between the rallyists and police personnel.
Later, representatives of the association were allowed to proceed to submit a memorandum to the Chief Minister.
In the memorandum, the association demanded issuing of appointment orders based on the DPC results published in a local paper Hueiyen Lanpao.
They alleged concealment of the result, which was set to be declared on April 22 last.
They reiterated that the DPC result was approved by Order no.1/3/2-4/09-DE (S) issued by the Director of education (s) dated 22nd April, 2010 under government convey order no.4/17/2005-SE(S) dated 22nd April, 2010 but the result sheet vanished minutes before it reached the notice board for wide publicity.
They also demanded to publicise the findings of the high power committee led by the chief secretary to the public.
The state government constituted a high level inquiry committee headed by the Chief Secretary assuring completion of the inquiry within 15 days.
The committee was constituted on June 27 and has been extended 15 days which expired on July 27 last.
But government has again extended the term till August 31 .
Mention may be made that the controversy in the DPC for appointment of primary teacher was surfaced when the Hueiyen Lanpao published the results.
The association is claiming that the DPC result was not pasted on the notice board on the advice of the education minister.
The reason being the non-inclusion of some candidates who were close associate of the education minister.
The DPC result published by Hueiyen Lanpao was an authentic one and is an order issued by DPC members after getting all necessary approval and conveyance orders from the higher authorities concerned, the association further claimed.
