Andro A/C MLA, Th Shyamkumar today extended monetary assistances of Rs 10,000 each to the families of two children killed by the heavy cyclonic storm that swept across the state during the current month.
The family along with his workers today visited the house of 9-year old student, Roshini daughter of Konsam Sanathoi of Lilong Arapti Mayai Leikai Boroi Makhong first.
Roshini, a student of Goura Thambal Memorial Academy died on April 1 when the school building collapsed by a heavy storm.
The MLA again proceeded to the house of five year old girl, Bidyashwori daughter of Sanayaima of Kairenphabi Mamang Leikai in Bishnupur who was a victim of heavy cyclonic wind swept in the village on April 20 last.
She died when the house she was living with her mother razed to ground by the heavy storm.
MLA of Thanga Assembly, T Mangibabu accompanied Shyamkumar in the visit to the house of the victim.
His wife Babita also took part in handing over the monetary assistance to the bereaved family.
Speaking to reporters after handing over the monetary assistant, Shyamkumar said he has been extended monetary assistances to the families of victims on humanitarian ground.
He further said that he is assessing the loss caused by the storm in his constituency, Andro in Imphal east to extend assistances to the victims from his local area development funds.
Earlier, he had distributed CGI-sheets to the families whose houses were destroyed by the storm.
Owing the cease work strike of the employees, reliefs sought from the government is awaiting.
With regard to the occurrence of the natural calamities, he said, it was due to mass scale deforestation.
Keeping this mind, now there is a concerted efforts of the people and government to replenish the forest stock in the state too by taking up tree plantation programmes.
