A day after the All Manipur Working Journalists' Union (AMWJU) resolved to boycott the State Information and Public Relations Day on November 1, awardees of Manipur State Journalist Award 2009 have been announced today.
Editor of Hueiyen Lanpao (English edition), Brozendra Ningomba has been selected for this year's best editor's award.
Among five reporters selected for the award in different categories, Hueiyen Lanpao's senior reporter, Lukhoi Wangkhem is also one.
He and Dhanabanta Loukrakpam of Poknapham have been selected for best rural reporting.
Y Nikesh of Ereibak has bagged the award for his reporting on public health and hygiene, while best reporting on women and children went to E Babina of Imphal Free Press and K Bedajti of Ereibak.
The four awards consisting of Rs 25,000 each with citations are to be given to the awardees on November 1 on which the Directorate of Information and Public Relations observed the "Information and Public Relations Day".
However, AMWJU had yesterday announced that they will boycott the day as part of the ongoing boycott of all developmental news of the government and the Chief Minister and the council of ministers.
