Imphal, September 16 2011:
The State Teacher Eligibility Test conducted by the Board of Secondary Education, Manipur (BOSEM)with altogether 110 examination centres provided by the Board of Secondary Education, Manipur in different schools and colleges of Imphal, ended in a haphazard manner today.
The examination was conducted today after the BOSEM provided examination centres in 110 different schools and colleges in Imphal district.
But unfortunately a number of illegible candidates who came along with the admit cards provided to them by BOSEM at their respective centres were not given permission to sit in the examination as their roll numbers were not listed in the centres.
The candidates accused the examination authority for mishandling of such a big state level examination.
This problem came up when the candidates who were to appear in the Paper II examination came to their respective centres.
Since their roll numbers were not found in the centres, a misunderstanding crept up among the candidates and the invigilators.
The invigilators told the candidates that it was not their doing, and that BOSEM is responsible.
A large number of candidates who were assigned exam centres at Imphal college, John Stone Hr Sec School, Nirmalabas High School, Tiny Tots Unique School, Meitei Mayek High School, Black Academy, Lamlong higher Sec School, Khurai Girls High School and Leela Singh Khongnangkhong School thronged the BOSEM office.
These candidates also revealed that they were provided question paper I instead of Question Paper II in the evening session of the examination.
Some of the candidates also reportedly left the examination hall disappointed.
As the candidates thronged the office of BOSEM, the Secretary, BOSEM came out and calm down the candidates promising to provide examination centre at Bengali High School for all those candidates who have got their seats in the centres provided to them at 2:30 pm and went inside.
Meanwhile, reporters present on the scene were called for a press conference at the office of the Principle Secretary of Education department.
There Suresh Babu, Principle Secretary, said that it will not be possible to conduct another test for the few candidates.
So they were asked to appear in the test which will be conducted today at 2:30 at Bengali High School.
He further said that there will not be any leakage of question papers as the candidates who have already appeared in the test will not be allowed to leave the examination hall before 2:30 pm even if the candidates finishes their exam before time.
