Guwahati, September 16 2011:
The special NIA court here on Thursday reserved its judgment till September 26 next on the proposal to shift United National Liberation Front (UNLF) chairman Raj Kumar Meghen to Delhi's Tihar Jail from Guwahati Central Jail.
Meghen is currently lodged at Guwahati Central Jail, but the NIA has proposed to shift him to the high-security Tihar jail on security grounds.
Meghen's counsel, M Gunedhor Singh, said after today's hearing that the NIA court will pronounce its judgment on the matter on September 26.He said the UNLF leader will also be produced before the court on that day.
During the hearing today, the counsels for NIA argued on security grounds to shift the UNLF chairman to Tihar jail, while Meghen's lawyer argued that the NIA court has no jurisdiction to transfer an undertrial prisoner from one state to the other.
