Ahead of the schedule visit of a team from the Medical Council of India (MCI) next month in connection with setting up of a medical college at JN Hospital, Chief Minister O Ibobi Singh today inspected the present condition of the hospital.
The Chief Minister inspected the existing condition of the administrative block of the hospital as well as the Female Regional Health Workers and Training Centre, where the class rooms of the proposed medical college is being planned to set up.
Apart inspecting the overall condition of the hospital, the Chief Minister also covered the PWD complex of Imphal East and the land of the Imphal Morning High School which are being proposed to acquired by the Government in connection with expansion of the hospital.
Talking to mediapersons after the inspection, the Chief Minister informed that the Government has been taking effort to start the medical college from the next academic session.
In response to the questions raised by mediapersons, the Chief Minister assured that the Government would be paying ex-gratia to the next of kin of the two passengers who died in the incident of burning down a bus by armed outfit KLO/KLA in Karbi-Anglong district of Assam on the night of October 23 .
