Imphal, January 21:
Universal Caring Mission has distributed school bags to 52 children are living with HIV/AIDS during a simple function here today.
Deputy Director of MACS Dr Th Premchand, NGO advisor MACS M Premjit and Dr Jayenta attended the function as chief guest, president and guest of honour respectively.
Speaking at the occasion, Dr Premchand said ART facilities have been extended to eligible children living with HIV/AIDS in Manipur.
Such facilities are being provided at four places namely JN Hospital, RIMS, Ukhrul District Hospital and Churachandpur District Hospital.
Dr Premchand, however, disclosed that the number of parents coming to take ART drugs for their HIV/AIDS affected children in Manipur is still very low.
If anybody feel that their children might be HIV positive, they should ensure that their children are tested for HIV.
If the result of the test is found to be positive, the such children should be brought for further necessary testing to find out whether they are eligible for providing the ART drugs
or not.
The ART drugs for HIV affected children are being provided by the Clinton Foundation.
