After four days in captivity, the chief librarian of the State Central Library was released today by her abductors at Wangoi area in Imphal West district.
The lady officer, Takhellambam Tampakleima of Thangmeiband DM College gate, was abducted by suspected underground elements with another staff of her office on Tuesday on her way back from her official duty of inspecting a library in Bishnupur district at Nambol area.
Suspected UG elements took away her when she came out with other officials to a tea stall at Nambol Bazar.
On query, Tampakliema refused to disclose the group responsible for taking her in captivity but she said, she along with her staff was shifted to Wangoi from a place at the shore of Loktak Lake at about 9.30 today where she was released.
Meanwhile, police is yet to trace the whereabouts of a head mason engaged in the construction of a godown of the Food Corporation of India (FCI) at Ningthoupham of Senapati district kidnapped by suspected militants on Thursday from his work place.
Thounaojam Jugindro (42), a resident of Mongsangei village in Imphal was taken away by two gunmen suspected to be cadres of a militant outfit from the work place, police sources said.
