A member of the Central Election Authority of the AICC, Sanjoy Palika will arrive here on Saturday as observer of the election to Manipur Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) president.
Chief Minister, O Ibobi has reportedly arranged his meeting with selected leaders of the party during his stay.
Sanjoy Palika is most likely to concentrate in holding interactions with the electorates of the party and heal the differences among party workers and leaders in the election of MPCC president for the next term.
Sanjoy Palika will hold interactions with party leaders so as to avoid any complication arising out of differences over the election of a consensus candidate, a source close to the party said.
It is learnt that during his stay, Sanjoy will make efforts to see that the election be conducted smoothly as was done in the election of Sonia Gandhi who was elected unappeared in the recently held election to the post of AICC president.
The source also believes that Sanjoy will hold meetings with Chief Minister, O Ibobi, seating president, Gaikhangam and MLA E Dwijamani who is planning to contest the forthcoming election to ensure a consensus candidate.
In the meantime, differences among party workers have deepened with supporters of, MLA E Dwijamani having estabilshed a camp.
In the camp, there are 60 members of the Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) were staying together.
Dwijamani plans to file his nomination by September 12. Observing the recent development and the latest developments that there are differences in the party.
The internal differences will become clear by September 12 and 13 on which nomination papers of the candidatures are to be submitted to the Returning Officer of the party election.
The election of the MPCC president is scheduled to be held on September 17. As per notification issued by Oscar Fernandes on August 26, 2010, willing candidates for the post of the state party president could file their nomination papers on September 12 and 13. Scrutiny will be done the next day and the last date of withdrawal of candidature will be September 15.The election will be held on September 17.
