28 Assam Rifles of 9 Sector under HQ IGAR(S) organised a Medical, Dental cum HIV Awareness camp on 07 Feb 2010 at Manamjang village of Senapati district for Maramjang and nearby villages.
The medical camp was inaugurated by Brigadier Gajender Prasad, VSM, Commander 9 Sector, and graced by presence of Colonel S C Rana, KC, and Commandant 28 Assam Rifles.
On the eve of the medical camp, Dy CO, Dr.MM Mattheu, delivered a lecture on health, diseases and their symptoms, HIV and drug abuse.
A team of medical officers, Dental Officer and paramedical staff addressed common medical and dental problems of over 350 patients.
The people were also educated on the topics like timely vaccination and personal hygiene through the lecture.
The villagers have hugely benefited by the regular conduct of Medical camp and Health Education provided by the Assam Rifles.
A volleyball match was also organised at the local playground of Manamjang between the host team and Namching which the later eventually won.
Youth of Mamamjang also presented traditional dances.
Prizes to contestants were distributed and in addition, sports items were also donated to the Local youth sports club.
In the end, Brig Gajender Prasad, VSM and Col S C Rana, KC distributed free ration to the poor and needy members of the villages.
Meanwhile a press release from the PRO IGAR (South) informed that 39 Assam Rifles of HQ 9 Sector under HQ IGAR (South) organized a Pulse Polio immunization Camps on 07 Feb 10 at unit hospital, 39 AR Mantripukhri, Pantholan village, Nepali Basti and Nagaching village.
More than 384 children under the age of 5 years were administered pulse polio drops.
Medical team of 39 Assam Rifles also participated in door to door activity for 100% immunization of children under the age of 5 years.
In another occasion, a Pulse Polio Immunization camp was organized by 31 Assam Rifles of 26 Sector at Gate No.1, 2, 4, Moreh and Khudengthabi on 07 Feb 2010.A total of 245 children were administered Polio vaccine drops in the camp.
23 Assam Rifles organised Pulse Polio Immunization Programme on 07 Feb 2010 at unit MI room at Shangshak.
A large No of children were administered vaccination.
Similarly 17 Assam Rifles in collaboration with National Rural Health Scheme organized a pulse polio immunization camp at 17 Assam Rifles Hospital at Somsai on 07 Feb 2010 .
At around 250 children were administered drops during the camp wherein under National Rural Health Scheme free pulse polio drops and other assistance was provided, said the release.
The same release also stated that a Pulse Polio Immunization camp was organized by 31 Assam Rifles under aegis of Headquaters 26 Sector AR at Gate No.1, 2, 4, Bn HQ and at COB Khudengthabi on 07 Feb 2010.A total of 245 children were administered Polio vaccine drops in the camp.
Apart from the checkup of the children, emphasis was laid on educating parents about the common diseases and remedial measures.
The efforts made by the unit were highly appreciated by the locals.
