28 Assam Rifles organised a free medical cum dental care camp at Manamjang village of Senapati district today.
A friendly volleyball match of Manamjang village and nearby Namching village was also held as a part of the camp organised under the aegis of IGAR (S) and 9 Sector Assam Rifles.
Namching village defeated Manamjang village in the closely contested match witnessed by a capacity crowd of the two villages and jawans and officers of Assam Rifles.
Apart from administering polio drops to children and organising a lecture on HIV/AIDS and timely immunization, around 350 villagers including women and children were examined by a team of medical officers of Assam Rifles during the camp.
Speaking at the occasion as chief guest, 9 Sector AR Commander Brig Gajender Prasad highlighted the community welfare role being played by the paramilitary force in North East region.
He also exhorted the villagers to co-operate and support Assam Rifles in its endeavour and in maintaining peace and harmony.
Troupes from Namching and Manamjang villages presented cultural dances to the gathering.
Later, Brig Gajender Prasad and 28 Assam Rifles Commander Col SC Rana gave away gifts to the participants of the volley ball match and cultural show.
The two officers also distributed ration to needy villagers.
