THE HISTORIC Peace March of the Manipuri Diaspora which starts from Silchar, Assam on December 29, the birthday of patriot Bir Tikendrajit, has reached Keithelmanbi today and will arrive at SAI complex tomorrow evening, stated RK Ranendrajit, convenor, coordinating committee in a press meet at NIPCO office today.
He said that the march would arrive at SAI complex, Imphal in the evening of January 6.A conference will be organised at the SAI complex on the next day.
They will go to Kangla in the morning of January 8.After a reception ceremony, the march will further go to Khuman Lampak and will spend the night their.
The participants will go to Langthabal in the morning of January 9, the birthday of Gambhirsingh, and will offer floral tribute to the cemetery of Maharaj Gambhirsingh there.
After that they will walk back to Mapal Kangjeibung and watch Sagol Kangjei there, said him.
A seminar on HIV/AIDS will be held at the Jubilee Hall of RIMS on the next day.
In the morning of January 9, a seminar on Games and Sports will be held and after that, a seminar on Performing Arts will also be held at Iboyaima Shumaang Lila Shanglen.
Shumaang Lila Gusmaogee Khudol will also be exhibited in later, Ranendrajit said.
He further added that a seminar on the theme of the peace march will be staged at Manipur University at MU Canchipur.
Around 250 persons from Brahmaputra and Barak valley and 250 persons from Manipur are participating in this march.
Government and the public are helping them since the beginning of the march.
He appealed the people of the state to welcome the marchers with an open heart.
After spending the previous night at Tupul, the marchers set from 6.30 in the morning and reached Keithelmanbi which is about 36 km from Tupul.
They were set off from Tupul by Second-in-command, 16 AR, Lt Col TK Singh and Commander, B coy, 86 battalion CRPF, NS Jha.
In their way to Keithelmanbi, villagers of Sehjang village welcomed them.
Volunteers of CADA Bishnupur branch, UPF and AMSU also welcomed them at Kotland.
Volunteers of Royal Riders also welcomed them at Phungjang village.
New Keithelmanbi Ima Meiraa Paibi Lup also welcomed them with torch in their hand and with musical band.
Peoples of Khana Chaoba Wangpurel Serou also welcomed them in cultural dress.
New Keithelmanbi Bazar Board Development Committee arranged for their staying the night.
Secretary of the committee, Pebam Bishambhor, who participate the march from the beginning took major role in arranging their stay.
