EMPLOYEES OF the Guwahati High Court, Imphal Bench started performing duties with black batch from today in protest against the killing of one of its grade-IV employee Ningombam Gopal by the security forces and demanding judicial inquiry into the killing incident.
The stir of the employees under the banner of the High Court Employees Association will continue for a week, said the employees.
Mention may be made that Gopal hailing from Heirangoithong Makha Mutum Leikai was gunned down by a combined force of 32 AR and Imphal west police commandos at Sagolband Heinoubokpi on December 23 in what police said was encounter.
Decrying the killing, a meeting of the employees association presided by registrar NG Max Fajang on December 31 last had resolved to press the state government to conduct a judicial inquiry into the killing.
They had also staged a sit-in protest on last Sunday to register their strong protest against killing of people by the security forces stating that they have no rights to kill a man even though he is guilty person.
