State government will sign a memorandum of understanding with the Union Minister of Home Affairs tomorrow (September 30) on implementation of Crime and Criminal Tracking Network System (CCTNS).
A meeting of the state cabinet held this evening at the conference hall of the Chief Minister's secretariat under the chair of the Chief Minister, O Ibobi has approved the proposal for signing the MoU, IFCD Minister N Biren, who is the spokesman of the SPF government told reporters after the cabinet meeting.
The cabinet also discussed computerisation of the police stations across the state with information networking system with the police headquarters where there will be facility for networking system with police headquarters of other states in India.
The project is to be taken up in the state under the Centre-sponsored police modernisation scheme being implemented in the state at present.
For implementation of the proposed schemes, the Centre will sanction funds amounting to Rs 50 crore, out of which Rs 13 crore will be released soon as the first instalment.
For successful implementation of the schemes, selected police personnel from the state police will be sent for imparting training in the fields concerned.
All the required funds for imparting training will be borne by the Centre, Minister Biren said.
The cabinet also approved the selection of 289 drivers of the police department from amongst the police constables, he added.
