Imphal, September 29, 2009:
Manipur People's Party (MPP) president Dr Nimaichand Luwang said an application will be filed under the Right to Information Act to seek the number of licensed guns issued to individuals of Thoubal and Khangabok Assembly constituencies.
He was speaking at the sit-in-protest against the Khwairamband incident at Luwangsangbam under the aegis of MPP Heingang Kendra Committee.
The MPP president also alleged that the police personnel who came to foil the MPP meeting yesterday at Charangpat were all from the constituency where Ibobi represents.
He said the end of Ibobi regime is inevitable.
It is only a matter of time.
Dr Nimaichand said the involvement of IRB personnel in the killing of a professor of MU, the stealing of irons, hurling of bombs at residences, etc has clearly indicated that the government is responsible for raising insurgents in the state.
He said the people should decide collectively to overthrow the government.
Dr Nimaichand also observed that some MPP MLAs have maintained their silence on the matter till now.
Saying that the coming by-poll in Yaiskul will be a litmus test, he further said that all protests and agitations must be stopped if the Congress wins the seat.
