Imphal, September 29 2009:
All Tribal Manipur Disabled Union (ATDUM) has cautioned the government that an indefinite economic blockade of the National Highway (NH) 39 and 53 leading to Manipur will be imposed if it fails to re-notify the exact number of reservation of the government jobs for disabled persons within October 3, in a press conference held at Imphal on Tuesday.
Addressing the press conference, Momo Tatanga, president of ATDUM, informed that the state cabinet has already approved 3 per cent reservation for the disabled on September 24.However, the notice when issued by the concerned CEO of the 6 hill districts including the Sadar hills did not contain the exact number for the disabled, added the president.
The president of ATDUM further maintained that according to 'Disability rules 1996' atleast 30 days should be given for preparation to the disabled persons and therefore the Government is not following the rules.
He also alleged the Govt of not serving the notice and not informing the special employment exchange for disabled persons.
On the other hand, All Manipur Hill District Contract Basis Teachers Association (AMHDCBTA) representative has submitted an ultimatum Thursday, to the chief minister for the extension orders of the service of contract basis teachers in the hill districts.
Khongam Malanmei, president of AMHDCBTA has also cautioned if the government fails to extend orders on or before October 2, the association would launch various democratic forms of agitations.
