The Nagaland Government has expressed shock at the sudden demise of Dr Hokishe Sema, Chairman of the ruling Democratic Alliance of Nagaland, DAN, at Dimapur on Wednesday.
In a condolence meeting of the State Government held here at the Secretariat Conference Hall under the chairmanship of State Health and Family Welfare Minister Dr TM Lotha at 03:30 P.M.today, a two-minute silence was observed in memory of late Dr Hokishe Sema.
On behalf of the State Government, a condolence message has also been sent to the bereaved family members of late Dr Sema.
A brief profile of late Dr Sema was also read out by State Chief Secretary Lalhuma during the condolence meeting, which was attended among others by high-ranking state officials and other legislatures.
Meanwhile, the Nagaland BJP Legislature Party has expressed deep shock at the sudden demise of Dr Hokishe Sema at Dimapur.
In a condolence message, Dr TM Lotha, Minister for Health and Family Welfare and also Deputy Leader of Nagaland BJP Legislature Party described late Dr Sema as �one of the pioneers of the Nagaland politics and also founding fathers of the State of Nagaland�.
�He has a very long and successful innings in political careers with immense contributions to the Naga people surpassing all of his contemporaries�, he stated.
�He has the distinction of becoming the Chief Minister of Nagaland on two occasions and first Naga occupying the seat of Governorship from the State�.
Stating that the BJP Political Party in Nagaland had lost a great leader, Dr Lotha said late Dr Sema was not only the �father figure in the party (BJP) but also a leader of BJP Legislature Party in Nagaland�.
Surely, by his death, the Naga people had lost a great leader and a distinguished parliamentarian and it would be difficult to fill the vacuum created by his sudden death, he added.
On behalf of the Nagaland BJP Legislature Party and his own behalf, Dr Lotha also conveyed heartfelt condolence message to the bereaved family members of late Dr Sema and also prayed that his soul rest in peace.
