Hundreds of students took out a rally at Imphal today demanding unconditional rel- ease of two student leaders who have been arrested and lodged in the jail in connection with the ongoing agi- tation of the All Manipur Colleges Students� Union for allowing students with back subjects to appear in the BA, B Sc and B Com 3rd year exam conducted by Manipur University.
However, security for-ces did not allow the rally participated by students coming from various colle-ges to pass though sensit- ive areas.
The rally com-menced from DM College campus at around 11.15 am and proceeded till Khoya-thong Road when the pol- ice stopped it near Than-gmeiband Lourungpurel Leikai.
After a short spell of heated argument, the security personnel prevailed upon and led the rally toward the southern gate of DM College.
The rallyists shouted slogans demanding unconditional release of the two arrested student leaders identified as Rojitkumar and Gandhi and rectifying the examination system of MU to allow back year students to appear in the final examination of the degree course.
Meanwhile, a statement signed by the general secretary of DM College of Science informed that the a memorandum highlighting the grievances of the students has been drafted and it would submitting to the Governor.
