Pioneer Health Club, Manipur, Khurai Tinseed Road condoled the death of Ima Hinga Karangmei, Queen of Maram Khullen.
The Queen was felicitated by the club in 2009 for her contributions made in the field of social reformation.
According to a press release of the club, the Queen played pivotal role in abolishing the traditional practice of M-Bong Katai.
Under this tradition, a pregnant woman who is experiencing a difficult labour is kept outside the house alone to make herself fight for her life.
If she dies, she will be buried by a paid outsider and her belongings will be thrown away.
The Queen also gave consent to intermarriage among different khel of Maram community.
The club also shared the grief of the bereaved family.
The Women Committee, United NGOs Mission-Manipur (UNM-M) also mourned the sad demise of Maram Khullen Queen Apei Hinga Karangnamei and Mrs C Kipgen, retired IAS officer and first woman in the State to join civil services.
The deaths of the two remarkable women leaders have left a huge void, said a press release.
